Hey everyone and welcome to the next edition of the Snapchat. I'm joined today by one of my absolute favorite people to have on the Snapchat. He's been on a couple of times, Ken, otherwise known as the Super Tech. God is back on the Snapchat for a holiday edition, my man. How are you today?
SuperTechGod:I'm fantastic. Thank you for having me back on, especially during the wonderful holidays. Really appreciate that. It's always a great time to talk. Snap with you.
Alex:Yeah, I appreciate that dude. And uh, you guys have been so busy. For those that may not realize, Kent is one of the geniuses behind the golden gauntlet, the Snap tournaments that are happening out there, one of the busiest guys on the planet. How has this season been? My man? You guys just absolutely crushed the world championships. You guys got some new stuff planned along the way. Do you guys, do you wanna give us a little bit of a hint as to what you guys have got planned?
SuperTechGod:Oh, for sure. So yeah, man, game managers are doing great things. Their second dinner, golden gauntlet. You players have been doing phenomenal. Love how you guys show up and make it do what it do. But get excited guys. The golden gauntlet that series is, is over the world. Championships happen, but we have more in store coming this January. That's right, 2026, January 10th. We have a snowball showdown. It's gonna be huge. It's gonna be awesome to find out more when you can sign up what the rules are. Make sure you follow all the socials for the official Marvel Snap Channel.
Alex:Snowball Showdown. Sounds cool, man. Yes, sir. Someone, some geniuses out here coming up with all your naming because, uh, the goal and got like, just rolls off the tongue. The snowball showdown just can't help you get hyped up about that. Yes, and not just that, I mean, you're the man who's known to have every variant.
SuperTechGod:Every variant. That's right. We have no, there's no more questions. Now we know I have every variant in the game, and because of that, every year I do something fun during the holidays, and that is the top 10 countdown, top 10 variants of 2025. So make sure you guys check out the YouTube channel because, uh, we'll start a little bit later after you watching this episode.
Alex:So basically down below I'm gonna have, uh, Ken's YouTube channel linked. Uh, we're gonna be releasing the videos on the same day, but I think yours might be coming a little later. So if you're watching like first thing in the morning, the Snapchat, check in on Ken's channel for the top variance in Marvel Snap for 2025. What a beautiful way to ring in the new year, especially from a man who is a connoisseur of variants. And I gotta ask you right off the rip of all the different like artist houses, which is the one that really stands out to you right now?
SuperTechGod:Wow. We both love Kim Jacinto back in the day. Yeah, yeah. I mean, Kim Jato is still great, but Creative House Pocket has been doing awesome. Pan. Our studios have been doing great. Gotta give it up to Victor. Fau, one of my favorites as well. And then last but not least, um, nCino, phenomenal art, love the color, watercolor Art styles. Those are some of the new artists that came out this year, last year, and they have been killing it and crushing it. Big fan of those artists.
Alex:No, the art's been absolutely incredible and, uh, pen, uh, pen. Art studio's phenomenal, but also like creative House pocket. I feel like every single time I see their variants, I'm like. Cooked man. It's best in class, like absolute best in class. They almost, so the Kate Bishop one is just absolutely unbelievable. But I have an absolutely beautiful, beautiful Kate Bishop with, uh, with the penny Art Kate, I just couldn't give it up. I'm gonna switch screens here for a sec. I, it was, it was just too perfect and I love how the Moon is golden behind her too. The penny arcade variant, even though like I absolutely love. Love the Creative Health Pocket one. I was like, this variant here is just too beautiful. I just love the way Kate like just separates from it. Right? So I couldn't bring myself to switch off of this one here, but do you ever find yourself, like just you get a variant, you're like, this is it? Like, I don't think I can ever replace this variant. Like it just looks too beautiful.
SuperTechGod:Yes, splits and everything with it is just like, you know what? I'm sorry. Even though this next variant that came out looks even great, I can't do it.'cause this split is just perfect. And that Kate Bishop, oh my goodness. That goes down to history books. One of the best variants out there. Oh yeah. I'm gonna
Alex:flash a couple of my favorites at you. I listen, I don't get chances to do this very often with a someone like, uh, with Ken, we gotta do it. This is another one of my absolute favorites. This is gonna play perfect on the audio podcast by the way. So we have a six 10. She Hulk. She's got the ink finish the green border and the green Kirby crackle, green crackle
SuperTechGod:spread. Yeah. I think this is one of the best She hawk variants too out there. Big fan of this artist. Love this art style. But yes, having an ink with the light coming through the blades, the, the, the blinds. My goodness. Beautiful. Perfect split.
Alex:That's one thing that Marvel Snap really, really did well. And like as I've played some other games here and there and checked out some other stuff like the art. Just doesn't, like if a game's art doesn't really like stand out to me, I feel like it detracts from the experience. Like we are so spoiled with how beautiful the cards and Marvel Snap are. Like the amount of effort that goes into like, just the animations, the the kind of parallax effect of like, you know, how the background is separated from the foreground, like these types of things like that. See, like her hand is like kind of like in legitimate 3D space. It's just beautiful. And so it doesn't surprise me like a, like a. Connoisseur of content like yourself would get so drawn into these, uh, variants that you're like, I gotta collect them all, like the Pokemon, right. You just gotta have'em all. Yes, exactly. But, uh, my man, we're totally off the beaten path now, but what we do, I wanna them
SuperTechGod:all
Alex:I know, man. We could talk about variants. We do
SuperTechGod:that all night. You're right. Yeah. Yeah. All
Alex:day long. In fact, one of these days, maybe we'll have to have you on for like a variant showdown or something, like a completely different type of, uh, fun video. But, uh, we, we need to talk about. The clash, the team clash because that's been something that's been going on this week. And if anything, I have been so unbelievably impressed with the gameplay. I've been having a ton of fun with Team Clash. Um, the rewards, I'm still kind of making my way through the rewards and stuff like that. I did get the premium track, which is worth noting, has become more expensive. Went from 800 gold to 1200 gold. Right. So I guess we can talk about that, but just before we dive into the monetary side of it, Ken, what have your thoughts been on Team Clash thus far?
SuperTechGod:I'm a huge fan of the mode big fan of it. I, the only thing, the only issue I have with it that's become sometimes of a pain is remembering what each car does, the new abilities for those cars, because some of them are completely different or a little bit tweaked, so it's like, oh, I thought that Spider-Man 29 9 will destroy a card when I move him. No, that's not what he does. So that kind of, different, um, ability is kind of what makes it a little bit more difficult, but. Nonetheless, I enjoy every moment of it. It is a phenomenal game mode. And if this is what we have in store for 2026 and beyond, ah man, as a Snap enjoyer, just like yourself, I think this is gonna be some of the best times at Snap. So all in all, enjoy the mode.
Alex:Yeah, me too. Uh, I found the same thing. It's funny, when I first started I was like, never seen before. What are you talking about? I just like clicked through them and then all of a sudden, like, these cards aren't doing the things I think they're doing. I'm like, what is Winter Soldier doing right now? Like, what? This is totally different. Right? And then you kind of get a handle of all these different effects and stuff like that. And I, I really did like the design. I think that the art is beautiful. I like those new borders. Oh yeah. I like how they, they have like a shared motif with like, the way that those pre-made kind of go alongside the, you know, the, the shimmering. Like gold background mm-hmm. With the shimmering shards and like, I like that. I really like that feel that they go for, and sometimes they find really interesting combinations of like, border effects and backgrounds, and I'm like, huh, that does really look cool. Right. And I hadn't thought of it in some of my prior things, but outside of the cosmetics, which for some reason we are totally dialed in on today, the actual gameplay is fun. And I think that second dinner's doing a really good job of like, first of all, taking a lot of information. Um, I do know that like, uh, they were trying to figure out like, okay. What is too many game modes? How long should game modes be? Should they be 14 days? Should they be seven days? Should they be just weekends? So I think what they've been doing over the last little while, and I think we've all seen it, is they're releasing lots of game modes and they're trying to get metrics and information on like, okay, if some, if we have high voltages for the weekend, do people like that? Right. Does engagement increase? Are people having fun? If we do 14 day game modes, is it too long? Is seven days too short? I think this one's 10 days, right? Yeah. So it's like somewhere in the middle, right? And so like I'm happy that they're trying to take in as much information as they can because at the end of the day, we want the best. Engagement that we can get experience in Marvel. Stop. Yeah, absolutely. We want to have a very positive experience if we can get it. And obviously, um, you know, I think the game modes is a big part of that. One of the challenges though, and I'm gonna just bring this up as kind of a beef I have, is that like, yeah. The ranked experience for me is like, it's just not what I'm interested anymore. Like, it's just, it's very whatever I think. I still think the bots, the way they've been designed and changed, have been, has been largely detrimental to the enjoyment of the ranked experience. Yeah. I think that, uh, bots should never be. Played in a way where like they're net negative cube gainers. I feel like they should be positive cube gamers. If you're being cubed into a bot, they shouldn't be scamming you. Right. And I have a couple clips that I've saved where it's like, man, these bots are just absolutely scamming you like crazy. That's a whole other conversation. But there's a couple things like first of all, the new season comes out and then like the day after the new season comes out, they have a hot location that obviously benefits the season pass cards. You're like, I don't wanna play a hot location, man, I just wanna. Play, and then by the time the hot location's gone, you get a couple days this and that, and then there's a game mode, and so you're not even in the ranked mode anyway. So while I don't like the game mode, sorry, the ranked mode, I feel like at the same time it's like it's not getting its time either because you're getting these, these limited time game modes coming in so frequently and so your time's being split up. Yeah, it's like do I get to infinite or do I get the rewards and stuff like that. And you can't do everything sometimes, and I don't think you can expect players to do everything. So just curious what your thoughts on that, Ken.
SuperTechGod:So I think I agree with you a hundred percent. I think the bots, the new bots have become crazy. I don't know what's going on there. Hope they make the changes to that rank mode has definitely become less enjoyable. But I think what they were aiming for is giving. Every player has something to do. So if you like rank, go ahead and play rank if you like. Limited time game modes. Play limited time game modes. You like conquest. Go ahead and play conquest. So I think that's what they were looking to do, to try to capture that data to see what is best for everyone. Because at the end of the day, they have to cater to everyone at this point, to bring in new players, to make sure everybody has a great experience. And I think that's kind of what their plans are. Um, also, you know, like you said before, increasing the price for the premium pass. I think that's also more data collecting just to see. What they can do where, how high they can go, how low they can go, et cetera. But as far as, like you mentioned before, the rank mode versus limited time, I think it is too much because trying to climb the ladder, trying to get all the rewards in the limited time game mode before it runs out, and then also trying to play conquest to get that variant, it is too much. So I really hope that. They figure out a way to keep all these modes kind of coinciding together or making some things count towards other modes, right? So if you play a limited time game mode, some of that counts to your rank or some of that counts to conquest. I hope they figure that out because right now, as you said before, it's definitely a lot.
Alex:Yeah. And I think they are trying to work on ways to try to smooth the process out. I've just found it myself personally, like of a limited time game mode though. Like I wanna play that. To the point that getting to infinite is no longer a driving factor for me. And if it's something that like the secondary team looks at and says, okay, well if we want people to be engaged with the game, do we make the path to infinite? Do we make it harder so they have to commit more time to it, or do we make it easier so that they get to infinite? And if we want to get to rank one, they can commit the time to that. They get the rewards, they get the infinite card back. And then once you're at infinite, you can engage in the limited time game modes without like. The FOMO of not getting to Infinite in the first place. I don't think they have the balance rate. In fact, I am. I'm like a hundred percent sure, and I've talked to them and they've said like, oh, we haven't changed. I'm like, you have, because I'm guaranteeing that there was a change. I dunno if it was an intern or what the hell happened, but the moment it was like the before the summer when they had those infinite borders. That you would get for getting to infinite. That was the season that the bots like drastically changed. They drastically changed. I play way too much of this damn game to not notice, and I was like, no, these bots changed. And I feel it. I see it. I hear the comments from the community. They absolutely changed. And if you don't think they did, go back to the damn code and figure out what's wrong because something ain't right. Anyways, that's just my opinion. I'm done. Thank you for coming to my TikTok.
SuperTechGod:But Alex, you're right because very simple change. The bots used to stay in after they snapped. They don't do that way retreat. They used to Snap when you were losing two lanes by turn five. Sometimes the bots don't do that anymore. And sometimes the bots scams you. Like they pretend like, oh, we're gonna let you win LA and then they do something crazy and win the matchup. So, no, you are absolutely right. Something Duffy changed. They cannot say that.
Alex:No, I know, but, uh, that might be a more detailed conversation for another day. I, I have found the bots being very frustrating in Snap, and I really hope that they take a legitimate look at those and, and fix them. But for what it's worth, team Clash. Two thumbs up for me. I would've liked to have seen the cost of the premium pasting at 800, although I will tell you still at 1200 Gold. The fact that you pretty much right off the rip get a new card just from kind of purchasing that 1200 goal for a new series four card. Yeah, is definitely good. The card acquisition, like we still have a lot of cards coming out, like it still feels like a lot of cards coming out too much, but I feel like players do have the opportunity, especially with a limited of time game modes to acquire the cards more effectively. The limited time game modes have been a boon to players looking for no new tools to play with. And even something like as simple as Wade Wilson getting buff, like that's a good message being sent. Right? Yeah. Wade Wilson was in the game mode, right? I'm just trying to think. He was in, uh. He wasn't just released the series four, he was in Grand Arena. Right.
SuperTechGod:No grand arena.
Alex:There you go. Yeah. So the fact that like you get Wade Wilson in Grand Arena and then like he's underperforming and they do a significant change to him while the other game mode's active. That to me is like, okay, cool. You could have just let him lay at the wayside. Useless. But no, like a lot of players unlock that card for free or perhaps by buying that premium pass and you've done some justice to it when it's not performing. So that to me does provide a little bit of confidence. But overall. Really happy with what's going on here. I would like to see, uh. I mean, what game modes I want us to come back. I still really like Grand Arena. I still prefer, yeah, the pre-made version of Grand Arena. If they can fix the balance. That's one thing that really frustrated me with the Grand Arena implementation. Yeah. Was finally, they did pre-made Ken, and then you know what they did the. The balance was completely awful, which almost made people pissed off that it was only pre-AIDS, right? Yeah. It's like, oh, get the balance right? Like, actually, I'd like your opinion on that. Like, what'd you think of Grand Arena? Because I, I liked the pre-AIDS. I just felt the balance was so far off that any stats or any information they pulled from that is almost completely useless because the balance was so poorly done.
SuperTechGod:Correct. I think they need to allow more time for testing because yes, I like the pre-made a big fan of, it wasn't upset that we couldn't make our own decks because it gives everyone a chance to play and that's the biggest thing. Right. But yeah, like you said before, the balance was way off. Black Panther Deck was just wrecking it. So like I said before, every match was Black Panther versus Black Panther. Whoever got the thing first won. Right. That they need to work on, but how can they do that? Right. We understand. Second dinner is a smaller team. They need to, I guess, lean on some of the community people, some of the people in the, you know, the discord to kind of really test these things out and really go back to them and say, Hey, this needs to change before they release it. But yeah, big fan of the pre-made, I hope they keep it.
Alex:Yeah. And I have to say like between Grand Arena and Team Clash. These are two modes that really show like a high degree of effort. Like I remember when I first saw Grand Arenas like, you know what, this isn't just a lazy game mode that was slapped on top of the game. Like this was a high effort, like just a high effort experience, a high effort, uh, endeavor for them, and they pulled it off. I think Grand arena's great and it feels like Team Clash is very much to that scale. Very good. I almost prefer Grand Arena, but I do think that the complexity of. Team clash is phenomenal. Yeah. And I like the idea of them balancing that like almost right away. By the way. Talk about the opposite problem. Yeah. Oh my goodness of Grand Ri. They were on top of the balance this time. Yeah. Which I appreciate. But uh, yeah, overall two thumbs up for the game mode here. I'm glad they're cooking. It's gonna keep Marvel Snap. Uh, yes. Definitely fresh. But Ken, as we said, maybe a little bit more balance between the ranked experience, the limited time game modes and fix those damn bots as we go to the game. And by the game, I mean Maverick. Maverick. Yes. I just, I said the game because I switched sources and whatever. I literally said the game because I switched to the game physically in OBS. Right. I, for anyone, I know what you meant in interested in the behind the scenes baseball as to why I used that particular phrase. But we got, uh, we got Maverick on the screen here. This was the series five card that released into Marvel Snap. And my man, can I just flex for a sec? Do you mind if I flex? Please show me something special. Show me. You know what, I'm just gonna say that currently the top performing maverick deck is your boy Surfer deck. Let's go try to cook a little bit with some, uh, with some Spiderman noir. Is that. No, not the, not the galactic one. Yes, yes. The Surfer, uh, Spider-Man noir deck. Yeah. Yeah. I was like, I was looking on, uh, what's it called on tap. I was like, wait a minute. I'm like, that's my deck. Yes. It's been a while since I've, uh, cooked the top tenor, right. So I was like, hell yeah. But uh, anyways, Ken, I'll give you the floor on Maverick. The three three that reads activate. Give the next card. You play power equal to this. Card's Power. What have you thought my man?
SuperTechGod:Uh, best card this season. Actually best card in a long time. I think it might be top five of the whole year of Marvel Snap. Um, the fact that you can add this card into any deck that you're looking to boost power or to add power to a card to make it do a thing. Maverick, is it, it being activate, being able to give that additional three power to anything in a Surfer deck, whether it be Brew Sebastian Shaw, or whether it be one of my favorite cards, the fall in one, being able to give it eight power and just have it give you nine energy for the next turn. I think Maverick can be slotted in any deck you wanna play, whether it be destroy, whether it be Surfer, whether it be, whatever it is. And you'll have a good time and you will be victorious. So for me, I, I gotta say this card is the best card this season.
Alex:That's unbelievable. And you know what, I gotta tell you, I love the card as well. It seemed like it had an effect that you knew it was gonna find a spot eventually. Like this type of effect is so powerful. The fact that it acts as this like ricochet of power is so helpful. And yes, it benefits Surfer, but it also benefits like zombie Galactic who's like also an extremely viable deck with him because like so GLTE did get buffed to a seven five. Now with Maverick, it's an easy seven eight. Yep. It's huge, man. That's absolutely huge. It wouldn't surprise me if within the next week or two, a zombie galactic shell gets like ironed out and people are like, why did they buff this card? What is happening here? Like I feel like it's very close. Could be, you heard it here first, that card might get really dumb really fast.
SuperTechGod:Agreed. I totally agree with that, but I mean, I think a three, three maverick was perfect, right? No higher or no lower giving. Whatever the power is, I think they hit it. Nail on the head. This card does not need to be adjusted in any way, I feel. But yes, I do agree with you. People are gonna start complaining that Galaxy is too much.
Alex:Yeah, I mean, it's perfect because like if you think about it, even just straight up vanilla with no buffs. He's a three six, right? Three. Three his own body, plus three to the other. But if you consider that plus three, if it hits a shop, it hits a brood. Like all of a sudden you. Digging way deeper than that zombie galati, it's way more than a three. Three, right? Yep. It's absolutely astronomical. But not just that, like one of the things I liked about is we talked about how it's like a store of value. For those of you that like programming, Maverick is like a variable. It stores value, and what happens is, is forge sets power into Maverick. Maverick stores that power. And then you call that power. Now I saw it, now I'm making it sound like a function, but Yep. Now what happens is you basically pump Maverick with Forge, whereas before it's like you used to have to forge into brood, forge into Sebastian Shaw. Right. Forge into captain Carter. But now you can forge into Maverick, and if your draws don't line up, Maverick's just like, don't worry, buddy. I got you. I got you. Yep. When, when, when Broods ready to come out, like, I'm, I'm ready. I got it. No problem. Right. And so for that reason, I have really liked. Maverick a lot and it was, you know what I was, oh man. In my season preview, this was the card. I think I gave it four and a half stars, but it was a five star like excitement card. The problem is that I had multiple five star cards this month. Man, I, you do it a little different. I, you said it before, and I think the last time I had you on, you tried to explain to me the way you, you rank things. I still don't understand. Yes, you do. Like double diamonds and Yes. Music. That sounds like us by music, feed track.
SuperTechGod:Yeah. We do it by music, so like, you know, platinum Diamond. Gold, et cetera. So, but just keep the same numbers, right. There you go. So you got, plastic is one, you got Silver is two, you got gold, that's three, diamond is four and platinum is five. Okay. So you give this and the half is the double.
Alex:I see. So this is a, this is a hundred percent. It's a platinum for you, right? Platinum, yeah. A hundred platinum five star. There it is. Alright. Yes. Five star Maverick. Getting both the recommendation from myself and the Super Tech. God, I think this is a beautiful card. I think this is worth six K tokens. Yeah. I would be highly surprised if this card's not playable. It's a beauty. I think you can commit your resources to it pretty confidently. Yes. Especially if you like Surfer.'cause it's,
SuperTechGod:and the clock is ticking 24 hours from now. Make sure you guys pick up this card. Do not let this card pass you by. Pick up this card. Spend your tokens.
Alex:That is a, uh, a definite recommendation from your boy Ken here. Uh, now we go to Mar, uh, marrow. It's marrow. I almost said marrow. I almost got, I call too,
SuperTechGod:but.
Alex:Yeah, it's, I'm, I'm pretty sure it's marrow, the two three that reads when discarded or destroyed, randomly split negative seven power among enemy cards. I played this in a deck that I saw Dexter playing. Uh, because listen, I've been playing so much team clash. I haven't actually been cooking as much with marrow marrow cheese. I did it again. Maro, listen, I'm just baiting engagement, right? So limited gameplay with marrow. Marrow. Oh my gosh. Now I don't even know which one I'm supposed to say. I'm just gonna say them interchangeably. I'll let you guys fight in the comments. Yeah. But, um, I thought it was pretty good. Honestly, it was better than I expected, especially for a series four. I think it's, I just how do I explain this? It's better than I expected, but I'm not convinced I need it. You know what I mean?
SuperTechGod:Right, right, right. Yes, I agreed. I agree with you. So
Alex:what are your general thoughts?
SuperTechGod:This card is a good card. I think it's a good card. Um, if you like destroy, I think you pick it up. Not even discard. I'm gonna say destroy. I think her and a deck with Morgan Lafa and all the other Destroy cards I think is pretty good. Being able to practice card twice. I'm big fan of that. But other than that, I agree with you a hundred percent. If you don't care for Destroy, I don't think you need to pick up this card. Giving a negative seven is a great thing, but if they have a Luke Cage. That does nothing. So for me, it is fun, but it's not a card that you know, like Maverick, you need it. So if we had to give it a ranking right now, I'm definitely giving this a three outta five.
Alex:Three outta five. That sounds about right. Like it definitely seems like a decent card. Doesn't seem like something you need to chase at all, which is probably why it's a series four card, right? Right. It does have a lot of decent dials. It is a hybrid card, like we've talked about this quite a bit. We have the discard or destroyed style card, which is kind of crazy to me. I read this, I, I think I meant, I don't remember who I mentioned this to, might have been Husky. I was like, this type of hybrid stuff I think really works well in like a draft mode. I know I keep bringing it up. I wanna will this into existence. Like when you have a card like this that has like, well it can be discarded or destroyed, it's like, huh? A little more useful in a draft mode, isn't it? Just gives me hope, Ken. It's giving me hope. They're working on all these game modes. The ultimate game mode. Could it be coming in 2026? Could it coming 2026.
SuperTechGod:That'd be great.
Alex:Again, Snap
SuperTechGod:joyous.
Alex:We'll love it. I know there's a lot of reasons to be excited, but, uh, at the end of the day, I don't have that much more to say about it. I did have some relatively limited experience with it. I played her actually in a discard based shell, and I felt like that was kind of cool. Uh, Le Morgan, la. I like Morgan Lafe too, especially with the changes. I did look prior to, I should bring it up here. Uh, I did look prior to, uh, kind of recording here. A version of discard featuring Apocalypse Weapon h and Con you running a 53% win rate of 0.21 Q rate according to on Tap with 200 games and it's doing okay, but the thing is you take marrow out. You put in still, you put in gambit or you put anything else, the win rate goes up, so right, right. When you see that, you're like, okay. The best version of Marrow right now is not actually the best version of discard. So does this card see play? It's hard to tell initial impressions, say maybe not. Yeah. So I don't think so. A little sad there. Now, I will fully admit that I have not had a chance to play Wild Child, like with the new game mode coming out. I do not have any play experience with Wild Child, so I'm gonna throw it over to you to see if you have any. Uh, I will say according to Untapped bro, no one's playing this card right now. Yeah, like absolutely no stats on this card, but I think it's because of the new game mode.
SuperTechGod:Correct, and that's definitely the problem. Um, but shout out to Blue Eyes, white Dragon. He, uh, sent me a deck with both Wild Child and Marrow in it and I was able to play this list and have a blast with it as well. So, wild Child is a great card. I think it's even better than Marrow. I give this card a three and a half out of five. The ongoing ability, uh, being able to get that additional power for anything that's been destroyed and you put it in a destroyed deck. Why not Marrow's giving that negative SE seven Wild Child's giving you getting additional power. I think Wild Child is a great card, but again, like you said right now,'cause of the Wonderful Team Clash, not a lot of people have been cooking with it, but the deck that I played with both of them in it, wild Child was a great addition to it. So for me, I give this card definitely a. Three and a half out of five.
Alex:Cool. And I should, uh, kinda reiterate what the card does. It's a two one card that reads ongoing plus four power if you've discarded a card plus four power, if one of your cards has been destroyed. So it is another hybrid card. Hybrid, yeah. Narrow and wild child both being hybrid centric here. And this is. Pretty neat man. I, I like it. I think it's cool. I just wish I had more time, like it's just, there was too much going on here. Like, you know, there's too many cards coming out, too many things to play and as a result, um, I didn't get an opportunity to, uh, to play it in and of itself. But, uh, honestly glad that you had a positive experience with it because there's another card and that's Aurora. Aurora is coming to Marvel Snap friends, and I could not be more excited. In fact. Stay tuned for Tuesday on the official Marvel Snap channel for your boy who's gonna be discussing this beautiful card on the official channel with a couple different decks go that I'm actually really excited for. I think you're actually gonna cook now. I was originally planning three decks. Now I don't wanna reveal the decks I'm gonna showcase. I'll let you guys see it on the official channel. Plus I'll play it on stream and stuff like that, right? But I think they're beauties. I think they're hot. And you know what, I'll, I don't want to give you the exact deck list, but maybe I'll give you a little bit of insight. Hell yeah. I'm playing this in Thanos. I think Thanos is going to love Aurora. Surprise, surprise. Thanos Aurora is gonna be a place to be. And, um, let me just read this card out for you. It's a six six that reads on reveal. Give one of your other on reveal cards at each location, plus two power repeat for ongoing. Activate end. End of turn. That's insane. That's a lot of blanket power. It's basically spectrum for cooks, for people who don't want to just play ongoing. Ken, what are your thoughts on Aurora?
SuperTechGod:Four, four and a half outta five. I think this card is gonna be amazing. Like you mentioned before, it is a spectrum that does everything, not just ongoing, well not everything, but mostly everything, but not just ongoing. And I can't wait to see the spotlight video that you do on this card based on the the dev video and what we've read of it. I'm just like, what? Who made this card? And why is this card not nerfed? Because being able to give that additional plus two power to your honors, your ongoing, your activates your end of turn. That is crazy. Especially if you do the whole Wong Aurora thing on the last turn. Like in my mind I'm thinking, hiding that all behind, like invis invisible women, and then last turn, just letting it ripped. I don't know. I, I think it's gonna be way too much power and shadow King can't stop it. Right. I, I think it's gonna be crazy to me. I'm excited for this card. Four and a half out of five for me.
Alex:Nice. Uh, this was one of my five star cards, my, one of my five star excitements. I was super excited for this. I was super excited for Maverick and I wasn't sure which one I liked more. I loved them both. So Aurora also, Aurora is fan is Alpha Flight. So the Canadian Avengers, right? Yes. So you got, you gotta appreciate that. Yeah. Yeah. I think that's the reason why I got the, the video for the official team makes sense. Like, come on, it's the Canadian Alpha flight, but, um, I'll tell you. So you talked about Wong and I had a version of a deck where I was experimenting with Wong, but you know who I ended up subbing Wong out for.
SuperTechGod:And, uh, Mr. Grandmaster?
Alex:No, almost similar idea. Silver Surfer First Steps because yes, what I was able to do, I was able to set up the location.'cause you go like, end of turn, ongoing into that location, you play that card and then you finish that location with Aurora, who's a six. Six, the Surfer is a 3.5, and now with Aurora, you're buffing everything else there. And then it goes again and then it goes again. My man, I'm telling you, that's
SuperTechGod:what you cooking it up. I'm loving that. Yeah.
Alex:I'm telling you, I think that the uh, Silver Surfer Fantastic four First Steps edition is a great combo card with Aurora.
SuperTechGod:You guys heard it here first. Alex is cooking it up, chefing it up. That is phenomenal. I'm a big fan of Silver, Silver First Steps. That is gonna be a fun cook. Can I wait to see that video?
Alex:It's gonna be fun and, uh, in my testing as well. Now, I did not know that doom 2099 was gonna get buffed, but when I was testing Doom 2099, I actually found it lackluster. Honestly, I ultimately cut it from the video'cause I'm like. In my testing and it's kind of hard to test in that environment.'cause you're testing with bots and, uh, on like, almost like an island by yourself. And I was, uh, I was very unimpressed with the Doom 2099 for the simple reason that you can't control where the doom bots go. So you could have, you're not spreading the ongoings effectively. And so like sometimes you have them all stacked in one location and then you're like, the Aurora hit doesn't actually go so well. So there was that. Which I did not necessarily love. So ultimately cut that deck out. So my experience with Doom 2099, prior to it being buff was actually not nearly as good as Thanos. Thanos was by far the one best. It was the one that really stuck out because not just that, the thing about Thanos is you have multiple stones with multiple effects and they have multiple effects on reveal and ongoing, like the soul stone and the mine stone, not the mine. Stone story, soul stone and the space stone. The stones they have ongoings and on reveals. Buddy, they get double pumped. They're plus fours, right? Like it's,
SuperTechGod:you're right. It's awesome. That is, wow. Do you have RA in there to protect them or are you just hoping that Killmonger doesn't exist?
Alex:So, first of all, you have to respect the Killmonger exist, especially in the season with weapon acts, right? I do not go with the, the RA. I decided to go with armor'cause armor's less expensive. And also Armor's line I think is much more snapp able when you're against a destroy player. So I, if you're looking for cube equity, like Kira is very defensive. Also, probably Kira probably needs a buff, honestly. Like, I think she can use an extra power. Agree. But armor like if, if you have initiative, because what you can usually get. Early on with uh, something like a kinda like a stones deck. A stones deck, a Thanos deck, which is kind of a stones deck. I feel like the armor, like, you're like, oh yeah, you're setting up, you know, Deadpool and X 23 and Wolverine, whatever. Watch this Snap wrecked. Right. So that's why I went with armor in that given circumstance. Okay. That's fair.
SuperTechGod:I can't wait to see the video. I'm not gonna ask any more questions. We just have to wait for it to rereleased.
Alex:Yeah. But uh, yeah, honestly, my, my testing experience with her was phenomenal. There's even ways where like some interactions were a little, like, how do I explain this? So like, I was trying to do stuff with like scarlet spider'cause it's an activate. So it's like trying to build Dex where you're like, okay, can I get an activate here? An end of, end of turn card here. Ongoing here on reveals here. And how can you make them all work? Like something with Dano Stone. So like, what are you gonna sneak in? That's an end of turn card. Well, Marvel boy is an excellent choice, right? Especially if you're committed to keeping those stones alive. Yeah. So there's like all these different things you can turn to, and I'm not gonna pretend like I came up with the best 12 dude, like the amount of cooking available to a car like Aurora. Once it's out in the community, it might be you that comes up with the best possible deck, because honestly it feels like a card meant for cooking. I could not tell you how excited I am to stream on Tuesday to play a card that I'm actually legitimately hyped up to play and I cannot wait for see, to see what the community cooks, man.'cause it's, it's gonna cook hard, man.
SuperTechGod:You know, the community always come through and do something crazy and we're like, oh my gosh. So yeah, I agree. I can't wait to see this card in action. Totally agree with you. And yeah, like Alex said, it could be you guys who cook it up real nice. So let's see what happens. But I'm pumped. I'm excited. Aura is, again, I don't know how this card is coming out and not being nerfed. I'm, I can't wait.
Alex:Yeah it's gonna be a wild ride, my man. An absolutely wild ride. Um, now we, we've actually flown through the topics. We are already at the Snapchat mailbag, which is crazy. We've, we've flown through the conversations here. Yep. But I, I feel like I'm, I'm missing something, but I'm looking through my notes. I don't think I'm missing anything. So why don't we talk about the Snapchat mailbag, I should say Aurora five star card for me. I, I'm all in on. I think you could precisely get that much done. Oh, I realized what we missed because one of the Snap. Check mailbag questions. This is about the fastball special, so we'll do two for ones here. We're gonna do a fastball special review and we'll talk about the fastball special. Okay. So we have, uh, actually they have no name. Their name is just a period I think they read. Wow. They said fastball special was an original move done by Colossus throwing Wolverine, but Wolverine once through Colossus at. Phoenix when they were in, when they were on the Moon, and the gravity allowed a reversed fastball special. And Colossus also has thrown shadow cat, otherwise known as Kitty Pride and Rogue through Colossus. In another instance of a reverse fastball special, she Hulk also threw Wolverine once. And the dialogue there is a little, has a little humor about it. So we had on the prior podcast talked about like the fastball special, where it originated from, and so there's the answer. But on that note. Ken, what is your thoughts on the fastball special?
SuperTechGod:It is a great card. As, sorry, not card. A great skill and funny enough playing with that card because that was the whole goal of, of grinding out the, um, team class to try to get this card and actually test it out and have some fun with it and using it with, of course, in conjunction with Adamantium Infusion. It's been working out very well. The fun part about that card is the most fun that I think I didn't remember is. Playing that card and a life hitting that lane. And I go, oh man. And then realizing a life doesn't work. On skills, so that's a good thing to remember and doing that action and seeing it happen, it's so good. The animation for that card is great. Being able to take your card and destroying it and then afflicting that to your opponent is phenomenal, right? Who needs Murrow at this point when you have the fastball special and of course bringing it back and doubling that card's power with Mentum Infusion, I think it's great. The fact that that's a two cost and the other car is a four cost, it just works out perfectly well for me. I gave that card, or how I feel about that card is definitely a four and a half out of five. For a fastball special.
Alex:It's definitely a banger and it's performing exactly where I expected to. According to untap based, uh, statistics, we have a Nimrod based shell, uh, the Nimrod Surey Black Panther edition that is running a 57% win rate and a 0.43 cube rate. Astronomical numbers. And you're right, adamantium Infusion in that deck, fastball special in that deck. And one of the things I loved about it, like when I was testing Atium infusion on the season release, I was playing literally a deck just like this. I was playing a Nimrod, be shell'cause you can't stop me man. I love Nimrod. And um, one of the things I realized was that like one of the superpowers of adamantium was infusion was the fact that it's four and something like a carnage is two. And so on turn six you can, you can kind of combo them in a way. Now if you don't draw your carnage. Now you've got yourself the fastball special. You have another way to generate that type of, uh, that type of momentum, which I think is absolutely phenomenal. So yeah, fastball special. Definitely a fantastic card. Unlock it in the game mode. I think that, uh, second dinner had said that. Even free to play. You absolutely should be able to get that at least one of the free cards. Most certainly. Right. And if you've bought the premium pass, you should be able to get both, get it right away, like with relative consistent play, like not grind, just consistent play, miss a couple missions, whatever. But you should be able to get it. Okay. But yeah, fastball special, phenomenal card and I'm glad it's, it is, it's really cool, really flavorful and I'm glad the second dinner's trying to cook there. And, um. Our actual mailbag question. I'm so glad by the way that I was like, I feel like I'm forgetting something. What am I forgetting? I was forgetting fastball special and literally the question in the mailbag was about fastball specials. We wouldn't even have touched on it had that not happened. So, you know, good call there, uh, Monsu period, who was without a name, but we do have a name here. It's Mike. Mike says, being able to try out the new cards in Grand Arena was nice. I ended up getting chamber after being able to try'em out. Yes. Thank you. That is something I've been saying for the longest time and I hope that second dinner takes that feedback seriously. You guys allowed somebody to play new seasonal cards in a game mode that was very fun and engaging. They played the card. They liked the card. They bought the card. That is exactly what we need. Sometimes we need the opportunity to trial these cards sometimes, man,'cause there's so many cards coming out. The resources are so limited. Give people a chance to try these cards. Mike, I'm glad you brought it up. The second dinner, we need more of this. You did a great job allowing people to experiment with the new cards of the season.
SuperTechGod:Yeah, agreed. We do our part telling people about the card, how we like it, how we want to use it. They watch our videos, they watch our streams, but they themselves don't get to play with it. So they, they're kind of still on the fence, but like those limited time game modes that allow'em to play it maybe like a draft mode that allow people to play with the cards they don't have, and they go, you know what? I'm gonna spend these resources and try to get this card. That's what we are looking for. And like, like you said, Alex seconded. You guys nailed it. Look at Mike. Mike is now a chamber believer and he went and got the card.
Alex:I gotta tell you, by the way, chamber has been so good. That was the card of all the cards this season. Like, listen, I knew I was gonna love Aurora and I love Aurora already. I knew I was gonna love Maverick, and Maverick has proven to be an absolute Chad, but I had doubts on Chamber. Yeah, and Chamber has been consistently, way better than expected. And finally this week. The best version of Chamber is running Nick Fury. How long has Nick Fury been disrespected? And finally it happened. Chamber comes out and Nick Fury is suddenly playable. But you know what's sad, Ken, you, you can probably feel this. I dunno if this has happened to you. I got so many splits of Mr. Nicholas Fury and they're all trash. I don't have a single in, not a single gold through all garbage splits. Yep. And I have the signature one. Right? The signature. That's what I'm using
SuperTechGod:too. That's it. Just the signature one. Just because Yeah, but no good splits'cause we don't use Nick Fury And now. We are. So hopefully, you know what you guys should do. Definitely send us some splits of your Nick Fury. Let me know what it looks like. I wanna see.'cause I don't have any good one either.
Alex:Yeah. Actually, you know what? Uh, why don't, if you guys have some very, very sensual splits that you'd like to send our way, hit us on Twitter, do at Super Tech, God at, uh, Alexander Cocha, and just hit us with some of these splits. We want to see them. And then, uh, I just want, I don't know, I wanna see what you guys are cooking out there, but if you have a good Nick Fury split on that note, why have they not brought out more signature splits, man? That's such a great idea. Not Besides the Wolverine.
SuperTechGod:Yeah. Besides the Wolverine. Right. That came out for the anniversary. That's it. But I agree. I don't know. I really hope that they're planning on doing something with the variants, whether it be signatures, whether it be sound voices when you play them. Something different, I think that'd be pretty cool. Um, I know we had talks about the not ultimate variance. Some other name they had for variance that was on the, the roadmap some time ago did bring up first edition badges. Although I don't wanna talk about that'cause I'm still waiting. I mean, you know what? It's a sore spot. We're not gonna talk about it. But nonetheless, give us some type of, yeah. Signatures, voiceover something I think would pretty good. But to your answer, yes, signatures, we should have more of that. We should have more of variance that does that. I don't know why we don't have it, but yeah, I agree.
Alex:I'm just gonna throw something out there because Riff Bound does something really cool. So riff bounds, like the physical TCG I've been playing a lot. Yes. Which I've been having a lot. Fun podcast. That's podcast bud. See? There you go. Thank you. I like keeping busy. What can I say? If it's a card game, you just, it sucks me and I can't help myself. I get it. Um, but, uh, what I gotta tell you though is one thing that they do is kind of interesting is, so we're talking about Nick Fury's card and Samuel Jackson Right. Signs the card. Right. Which is super cool. Like I'm all for that. But what Riff Bound does is that the artist signs the card. So imagine like Kim Yato a special edition signing apocalypse or whatever, and Kim's signature is on the card. So you don't have to go get the actor for Apocalypse and X-Men, whatever. You don't have to get Samuel Jackson, don't have to the artist Get Scarlet Johansen. Maybe the artist signature's kind of cool. Yeah. You know what I mean? Wolverine, right? The Wolverine had the artist too on there. The artist signature. Oh, did it? I, I thought it was, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, so nevermind. My idea's already been implemented. Ken read. Yeah. Yeah.
SuperTechGod:The signature did for the, yes, for the Wolverine is the signature of the artist.
Alex:Okay. So
SuperTechGod:what? What am I talking about here? Well, you're talking about we need more'cause we only have two. We have the art, we have the one with the artist and we have the one with the
Alex:actor. No, I'm so dumb. Obviously the signature's not Hugh Jackman, like who did I think it was? I'm honestly, buddy, I gotta go to sleep. I was like, I could ask the question, but after this dream, yeah. It's like, obviously I know who Wolf Reed is, man. Like, how did I not know? There wasn't Hugh Jackman? Hugh Jackman is what I just said. I need to stop talking, but uh, all right. Okay, nevermind. I'm not even edit any of that. I just embarrassed myself. But you know what? Everyone on Snapchat's used to it at this point. Oh man. But what you guys gotta do now, you gotta do me a favor, okay? It's not about even hitting the like button, not all that subscribing stuff. What you gotta do is you gotta subscribe. It's a Super Tech God's channel. And you know what we should do is we should release this video as one of those CoLab videos where it shows both of our names. You know, says Alex, coach, super Tech God. So all you gotta do is just, just go down below and you hit the subscribe button. Both of our names are gonna pop up. You gotta subscribe to both guys'cause Super Tech God's an absolute beauty Ken. And I have to tell you behind the scenes, man, what a lovable human being this guy is a genuine just. Person of grace. I cannot explain to you how wonderful it is to spend time with Super Tech God. About once a year we get a chance to hang out, which is nice. And uh, hopefully one of these days, uh, we get a chance to, uh, to hang out again. I'm hoping, uh, hoping we can pax East and you know, I'm gonna be there. So someday maybe I'll there, be
SuperTechGod:there. Me
Alex:too. So I, we'll see you then. Will see you. That's awesome. Well then, we'll, we'll make it a date. And, uh, guys, honestly, you gotta support his content. He does tremendous work, not just obviously on the content side, but in the tournament scene with. The amount of work going into the Golden Gauntlet and everything that his team is doing to make Marvel Snap's competitive program, not only competitive but well produced and engaging to watch. You guys are absolutely crushing at you and the entire team. Thank you. So thank you so much for everything you guys do, and thank you guys for watching and supporting the Snapchat. We'll see you on the next one.
